Empowering Schools, Students, and Families with Expanded Learning Opportunities

In May 2024, the State Board approved over $1.3 billion in Community Schools Implementation grants to enhance student achievement, wellness, and family engagement. This initiative reinforces a holistic approach to education by integrating academics, health services, and social-emotional support—ensuring the whole child and whole family are served.

At HPA, we align with this mission by delivering sports and enrichment programs that strengthen community schools. Our goal? To ensure that students in rural and high-poverty areas receive engaging, high-quality learning experiences before, during, and after school, as well as on weekends and during the summer.

Why Sports & Enrichment Matter for Community Schools

While Community Schools (CS) funding does not directly support afterschool programs, it is instrumental in improving accessibility, coordination, and effectiveness of services offered through schools. Sports and enrichment activities play a crucial role in this model, providing students with:

Safe and structured environments before and after school
Opportunities for physical and social development
A sense of belonging and engagement in learning
Stronger family and community connections

By leveraging CS funding alongside Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP) and 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) grants, schools can maximize the impact of their expanded learning programs.

How HPA Supports Community Schools

HPA offers a variety of programs tailored to school districts, community schools, and educational partners, ensuring students receive holistic and engaging experiences throughout the year.

🏆 Lunchtime Support & Noon Leagues

We provide structured midday recess programs that promote active play, teamwork, and friendly competition. Noon Leagues encourage students to develop leadership skills, confidence, and social-emotional growth while staying physically active.

📅 Saturday Enrichment Programs

Expanding learning opportunities beyond the school week, our Saturday programs help schools engage students in sports, fitness, and enrichment activities that build skills, teamwork, and social connections.

⚽ Afterschool Sports & Enrichment

Through structured afterschool programs, students participate in engaging sports and recreational activities, promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and academic success.
